Case Description
My primary dentist advised me that I have dislocated the disc in my left TMJ and now am experiencing crunching sounds (clicking) when I open my mouth. Additionally, it is causing my bite to become different and hitting other teeth at a slight angle when chewing on that side. I am looking for a Specialist that has done research on a special kind of splint to assist in the repair of the disc relocating in the Broomfield, Westminster (North area), CO. Are there any Specialists available? Please reply.

Are You This Patient?
When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description,
special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more
reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors.
Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

Sorry to hear that you are having TMD problems; it can be painful! Alas the ADA does not recognize the treatment of TMD as a speciality. As a general dentist with over 25 years of experience I recognized early on in my career that I need advanced training in occlusion (bite) and TMD (tempromandibular dysfunction). We would be happy to see you for a free consulation to discuss an orthotic as a means to recapture your disc. I also know of a dentist in Arvada (a little closer) who can also help you. Please feel free to give us a call. Dr. Fran Engler

Dentistry does not have a TMJ specialty. Try to find a Dentist you has had advanced training at the Pankey Institute or the Dawson Center. They should have experience in treating you disorder.
