Want Whiter Teeth?

  • How do you know IF whitening will work for you?
  • How do you know WHICH kind of whitening to choose?
  • Are any of them WORTH your money?

Whitening — it’s everywhere!  “Regis Filbin White,” is the image for a new ultra-white shade made for creating that super white smile! (don’t worry whitening won’t make you look like Regis-if you want to, that takes veneers, a topic for another day) Fall is here and you’re probably ready to freshen up your look. Whiter teeth will give you a more youthful, vibrant appearance. There are myriad ways and products that you can use to lighten your teeth. Are the $59 infomercial whiteners just as good as Zoom or Britesmile? What really works? When you want to refresh your look, shopping for clothes or makeup can give you a boost, but whitening is a simple procedure that can make a BIG difference in your confidence level. OK, here’s the straight scoop on all aspects of whitening:There are lots of options for whitening.  Here are some tips on helping you decide what’s best for you:

  • How white do you want your teeth to be?
  • What are you willing to do to get there?

 1. Crest White Strips.  I’ve seen a few patients get a really nice result with this process. They were happy and kept their costs down. The only catch to this procedure is having the temperament to consistently put the strips in your mouth for 6 weeks and you have to have the right style of enamel. For best results:

·        Your teeth must be fairly straight or else the strips won’t really fit or stay on the teeth right.

·        If you have much sensitivity in your mouth, this may not work for you.  We offer a “professional” strength Crest WhiteStrip kit with higher concentration gel than what you can buy in the store. We sell this kit for $64.

2. Tray Whitening  This is the MOST effective whitening method. You only need to wear the trays about one hour per day for between 7-14 days, depending on the level of whitening you want. I have seen about 60% of my practice able to get very nice results from this technique. This is the benchmark to which all whitening is compared. It’s safe and fast. This is the most common method that people use to whiten. Our fee is $345.

·        We make a model of your teeth, so we can create some soft flexible “trays” that will match the contours of your teeth. This is the trick to great whitening – a properly molded tray that allows the gel to come into contact with your entire tooth.  We can often have you ready to go in the same day!

·        We’ll show you how to use the kit and what to expect.

·        This procedure lasts for up to 2 years, only requiring a simple touch-up at home to maintain your desired shade.

·        If you have much sensitivity in your mouth, this may not work for you.

OK, now the FAST option: 3. Dental Office Whitening A great way to get white teeth, fast – we use Zoom2, as seen on Extreme Makeover.  The advantage is you get white right away. So if you have a special event: a re-union or wedding coming up, then you can get white today! If your personality is that you just want to get it done and not fool around with a lot of things at home then this is for you.  If you have tried other kinds of whitening and are too sensitive or can’t get the result you want, then Zoom WILL get you there! Bring a movie or your tunes and sit back while we make you white! With this method, you can see whiter teeth in about an hour and a half. Our fee is $480.   Limitations to all types of whitening:

  • You can’t whiten porcelain, so if you’ve had crowns or veneers, they won’t change color.
  • Gum and teeth sensitivity.  We can assess this and help with ways to lessen it.
  • The key to ALL whitening is to have your Dentist help find the right technique for your teeth.
I want you to get the whitest smile in the most comfortable manner. Feel free to call me to discuss any questions you may have or to make an appointment for a complimentary pre-whitening exam. Fees may change at ANY time. (Call 303 988-6110 today and ask for whitening with Dr. Greenhalgh, or email me at DrKnow@howdoyouknow.info )
